Special Olympics Virginia organizes and runs year-round athletic training and competitions each year for athletes at no cost to partisipate.
Anyone age 8 or older who has an intellectual disability can become a Special Olympics athlete. Whether your interest is competitive or social, we want you in our program.
Our focus is on real sports, competition, and our athletes and their achievements. Most of all we want eveyone to have fun!

AGE 2-7
Our Young Athletes program is your place to be... Our young athletes learn the basics of sports and a play program designed for children ages 2 to 7 years old with an intellectual disabilitie (ID). Our Young Athletes are introduced to basic sport skills, like running, kicking and throwing. Our program provides activities and games for all ability levels, allowing our younger partisipants to play together in a fun and inclusive environment. Children of all abilities take part, learn how to play with others while learning basic sports skills and more. Children learn to share, take turns and follow directions and have fun and get more physically fit.
