Special Olympics Virginia Area 6 is a year-round program of sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Area 6 is one of 33 Special Olympics Virginia area programs.  Our programs are in the following counties and we welcome both athletes and volunteers from those counties and anywhere in Virginia.  Area 6 is one the largest Area programs within Virginia.  Our programs are within the following counties:

• Amelia, 

• Chesterfield, 

• Goochland, 

• Powhatan​

 

There is never a cost to to our athletes, partners or volunteers who participate in our training programs and competitions.  All costs are paid for by donations from individuals, corporations, businesses, clubs and our own local and area fund raising events.

Thanks to a large volunteer network we are a 100 percent volunteer run program .  All funds raised are used to directly support the program...there is no overhead or payroll.   We invite everyone to join us in our mission to open hearts and change minds about people with intellectual disabilities.  Our Area 6 program offers year round training and compitition for partispants ages 8 and above, and now also offers sports skills training for young partispants ages 2-7.
